8 Ways to Become a People-Following Business Leader

Business leaders used to work in the shadows, and even long-serving employees rarely heard from them or saw them in the media.
With the internet and social media, your leadership efforts will be lost if you aren't visible in a favorable way to everyone, even customers.
You must be willing to be a public figure and exhibit the necessary characteristics to be a great leader.
As a business advisor, I find that many aspiring entrepreneurs believe that their enthusiasm and unique solution will establish them as a leader, and that consumers and team members would follow them to the ends of the world, ensuring business success.
In actuality, you may need to focus on your image as a leader even more than the value of your providing to achieve this.
In my experience, this means that you'll probably need to augment your product business plan with some major personal actions that establish you as a visible business leader role model.
1. Assume a visible leadership position in your field.
Make time for active involvement in future-focused industry conferences, public panels, and TED Talks. It may be time to take a formal stance online through blogs and interviews. In marketing initiatives, viral videos, and contacts with important client segments, you must be visible.
2. Establish connections with well-known business leaders.
"You are recognized by the company you keep," as the axiom goes, has never been more true. You can't hide relationships or the absence of them in this age of unlimited internet availability. Some entrepreneurs I know try to keep control of their businesses or save money by avoiding advisers and operating in stealth mode.
3. Project an open-minded and eager-to-learn image.
We all think that in this age of change, a good leader must be always open to new ideas, intellectually curious, and on the lookout for knowledge from brilliant people. The previous leadership models, such as autocratic, defensive, and egotistical, will no longer qualify you as a strong leader.
4. Be willing and able to communicate at all times.
People will not follow you if they have no idea where you're going or why you're there. Make sure you're communicating the proper message, and use all available channels, including body language, to ensure that everyone gets it. Be open about the problems ahead while being optimistic.
5. Demonstrate and inspire confidence and trust.
As people are dragged out of their comfort zone and into the unknowns of a changing world, everyone has worries and qualms. You must exude confidence and trust in order for others to choose to follow you, and you must demonstrate that you have confidence and trust in the people with whom you work, as well as in your clients.
6. Set goals and reward yourself for achieving them.
Your ability to set aggressive yet acceptable goals with milestones and the ability to celebrate achievement along the way is how people judge your leadership. This entails recognizing individual accomplishments in public, providing comments, and providing coaching and mentoring along the route.
7. Be self-motivated and persistent when it comes to major challenges.
Every corporate leader must set an example by facing problems head-on and never giving up until they are resolved, without blaming others, assigning blame, or failing to make a choice. The capacity to take on a project outside of one's comfort zone is a quality that everyone admires in a leader.
8. As you go, figure it out.
To be successful in business, you don't need to go to business school. Don't put off starting your big concept until you've mapped out the entire trajectory of your future business. Everyone is always learning something new.
When you see someone and think to yourself, "They've got this whole business thing down pat," take another look and put yourself in their shoes. What types of doubts and fears may you have if you were in their shoes? Everyone, including some of the most powerful business leaders, is human, and everyone has uncertainties. Self-doubt can be overcomed by using personal affirmations, keeping an optimistic attitude, and learning more about the industry you're trying to get into.
